Decolonising the Library and the Black researcher In-Person / Online
Welcoming Black researchers from across the University of Essex, we will be discussing library resources and decolonising the catalogue from Black researcher perspectives.
The University of Essex Library Services Academic Liaison Team welcome Black researchers from across the University to participate in a discussion about the provision of decolonising resources in the library's collections.
Join us in the Special Collections Reading Room on the first floor of the Albert Sloman Library on Tuesday 25 April at 2pm.
Participants will be encouraged to consider how the Library services at Essex can work with Black researchers to support their research needs and ensure that appropriate resources are required in a timely fashion.
This workshop will take place as a hybrid event with participants welcome to join us in person at our Colchester campus or online. Black researchers based at our Southend and Loughton campuses are welcome to join us either in person or online.
If you have time, in preparation for the event, please spend a little time on these two activities:
1. Watch the short Decolonising the Library video
2. Take a look at the Decolonising the Library subject guide
We'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on them both at the session
