Using Harvard referencing (online) Online

Harvard referencing is commonly used at the University and in academia generally, and is the required style for publishing with the Essex Student Journal.

Join us for an interactive and engaging Harvard referencing session to enhance your academic writing skills. Being able to consistently reference all types of sources using a specific style is crucial for making the most of your sources and producing well-structured and academically sound work. In this session, you'll learn the fundamentals of Harvard referencing, including how to cite various sources, create in-text citations, and compile reference lists. We will use practical examples that allow you to practice constructing references, show you where to find the support and guidance you will need, and provide valuable tips for avoiding plagiarism and ensuring a high standard of academic integrity.

By the end of this session, you'll be able to:

1. Identify what you need to reference and explain referencing jargon

2. Find referencing guidance to help create references

3. Create references for different types of resources using the Harvard style

You can find referencing support for all referencing styles from the Library.
