This free one-day Research Writing Retreat is an opportunity for Essex researchers to focus on writing alongside fellow research staff and students.

It can be difficult to find time to write as a researcher so by bringing people together to write, we hope to provide a dedicated distraction-free space where you can be productive, and meet and learn from your peers.

We will begin by discussing how to keep writing and build accountability by asking you to share your goals for the day with each other. The rest of the day will include blocks of intensive writing with scheduled breaks.

Members of Organisational Development and the Library’s Research Support team will be on hand to answer questions you may have about the day and related events.

Please note:

• We cannot proofread your work. Content delivery is limited to how to maintain motivation and productivity, and does not include writing skills nor information on CADENZA.
   
• This is an in-person retreat and will be held in The Forum at our Southend campus. You don't need to work/study at Southend to attend, but accommodation, travel, and parking will not be provided as part of the event.
   
• Please bring your own laptop or device to work on.
   
• Please bring your own refreshments. There is a kitchenette that you can use to prepare hot drinks.
