Drop-in session: understanding consent in data sharing and ethical research

Drop-in session: understanding consent in data sharing and ethical research Online

This drop-in session aims to assist researchers in navigating the complex issues surrounding consent in data sharing, with a focus on ethical and legal considerations.

Prior to attending, please watch the video workshop on Consent issues in data sharing embedded below. This workshop video will clarify the difference between ethical and legal consent, emphasising that while consent can be a legal basis for processing personal data and data sharing, ethical considerations must also be addressed regardless of the legal bases used. This video also focussed on considerations for preparing documentation such as consent forms and participant information sheets when it comes to data archiving and future reuse and include extracts from real-world consent forms used by researchers and the model consent form recommended by the UK Data Service.

During the drop-in session, attendees are welcome to bring any questions about consent forms when it comes to data sharing.

You do not need to book to attend, however booking will allow us to more easily follow-up with any queries you have before or after the sesson.
