University Art Collections spotlight: Henri Gaudier-Brzeska In-Person
The University of Essex Art Collection has been part of campus life since the 1960s. It’s full of modern and contemporary British art, with works displayed across the University so that everyone - students, staff, and visitors - can enjoy them every day. Our spotlight talks focus on individual pieces, sharing the stories behind the artists and their work. Come along to see the collection in a new way, learn something surprising, and discover how art adds inspiration to life at Essex.
Henri Gaudier-Brzeska
Henri Gaudier-Brzeska (1891–1915) was a French sculptor active in England and a founding member of The London Group. His works use simplified forms to capture movement and rhythm, influenced by athletics, music, and East Asian art.
